Founded on a conviction.
Software production is the most expensive process most large organizations have never measured. Seerene was built to change that — as an independent governance institution for the AI era.
“Software production is the most expensive process most large organizations have never measured. We built Seerene to change that.”
Dr. Johannes Bohnet — Founder & CEO, Seerene
Dr. Johannes Bohnet has spent two decades at the intersection of software production and organizational performance. His work began with a conviction that became impossible to ignore: the largest cost centers in modern enterprises were being managed with less rigor than their smallest operational processes.
With direct experience advising some of the world’s most complex engineering organizations — from global industrial manufacturers to critical financial infrastructure operators — he built Seerene on a single operating principle: software production can and must be governed with the same management discipline as any other production system.
Dr. Bohnet is a recognized authority on scalable software production management, a frequent speaker at C-level and board forums, and the founder of the Software Excellence Network.
Founder & CEO, Seerene. Built the management intelligence platform for enterprise software production. Customers include Siemens, SAP, Deutsche Bahn, Audi, and Telekom.
Research and advisory practice on software production quality and organizational performance at scale, with leading European industrial and financial organizations.
Where Seerene comes from
Prof. Dr. Jürgen Döllner
Hasso Plattner Institute · Research group on Computer Graphics and Visualization
Seerene grew out of research at the Hasso Plattner Institute. There, our founder led a research group on software analysis and visualization. The question then is the question now: how do you make the vast, invisible work of software production legible to the people accountable for it? That research became the method at the core of Seerene.
Dr. Bohnet holds a doctorate from Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), where his research on software visualization and production analytics formed the conceptual basis of Seerene. The platform’s Software Maps — its core mechanism for rendering structural complexity legible at portfolio scale — trace their origin to research conducted at HPI by Prof. Dr. Jürgen Döllner and his group, now operationalized at industrial scale across Seerene’s enterprise customer base.
Founder, Software Excellence Network. Cross-industry platform for researchers and executive practitioners at the intersection of software governance, AI adoption, and production-scale management.

A deep-tech foundation for software production governance.
Seerene is part of the German Deep Tech Group — a network of technology companies building measurable, engineering-grade infrastructure for European enterprises.
Seerene’s intellectual foundation traces to the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) in Potsdam. The core visualization and production analytics methodology — Software Maps — originates from the research group of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Döllner and is now operationalized at industrial scale across Seerene’s enterprise customer base.
Together, these two affiliations provide the engineering rigor and academic depth on which Seerene’s governance platform is built.
