Case study: Techniker Krankenkasse successfully uses Software Maps

How do you keep tens of millions lines of source code in shape? This has been the challenge of Dr. Frank Griffel, Head of IT Systems at Techniker Krankenkasse (technician health insurance), whose brief summary was clear: “I would like to look over the inner workings of our key operational system quickly.” The IT manager found the answer to this question in seereneTM’ solution, which the health insurance now uses to continuously check its central software system “TKeasy”.

Fourteen years ago, the technicians of Techniker Krankenkasse had taken the self-developed IT architecture “TKeasy” in operation and since held it up to date from a technical, business and architecturally point of view. TKeasy is a Java-based 4-layer application that is intended to deploy the core business of the health insurance company. But 14 million lines of source code and 54 billion object transactions every day turn operation and maintenance into a conceivable challenge – especially with regard to dependency management within the architectural care operations.
